NTOP Setup: SBS Does Not Let You Pick Components (218076)

SYMPTOMS

When you run BackOffice Small Business Server 4.5 (SBS) Setup, Microsoft Windows NT Option Pack (NTOP) is installed by default. During the NTOP installation, you receive the following message:
This may take several minutes depending on the components you selected.
However, this message may be misleading because SBS Setup does not permit you to select individual components.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because this message is generated by the NTOP installation program. SBS uses the Bosetup.exe file to call the unattended installation (by using command-line options) for each component that is installed, including NTOP. The command-line options specified only install a sub-set of the NTOP functionality.

RESOLUTION

To install additional NTOP components, run NTOP Setup independent of SBS Setup. Note that NTOP Setup is located on SBS CD-ROM 2.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
