This article describes how to upgrade a DHCP or WINS database from a Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 server to a Windows 2000 server.

Upgrading a DHCP or WINS Database- Run the NET STOP DHCP or NET STOP WINS command on both the Windows NT 3.51 and Windows 2000 servers.
- Copy the contents of the Windows NT 3.51 %SystemRoot%\System32\WINS or %SystemRoot%\System32\DHCP folder to the Windows 2000 %SystemRoot%\System32\WINS or %SystemRoot%\System32\DHCP folder.
- Run the Upg351db.exe upgrade tool on the Windows 2000 server.
NOTES:
- You need the Jet.dll file from the Windows NT 3.51 server.
- The /e command-line switch specifies the type: 1 is DHCP, 2 is WINS. For example, the command line might be: upg351db wins.mdb /e2 /djet.dll
