SUMMARY

When you search a FrontPage Discussion Web that resides on Internet Information Server (IIS), and Index Server is used as the search engine, Toc.htm and Tocproto.htm are returned in the results. This article describes how to remove the Toc.htm and Tocproto.htm files from the search results when you use Index Server for queries.

To remove the Toc.htm and Tocproto.htm from the search results, add a robots meta tag to each page to exclude the page from the search. The meta tag is
<meta name="robots" content="noindex">
				
This will cause Index Server to exclude the page from the results.




To add this html to the Toc.htm and Tocproto.htm files, do the following:
  1. Open the discussion Web with FrontPage.
  2. Select Tools, choose Web Settings, and then click the Advanced Tab.
  3. Under Options, check the "Show documents in hidden directories" box and click OK.
  4. Open the previously hidden folder _disc.
  5. Double-click on the file Toc.htm to open the page in FrontPage Editor.
  6. In FrontPage Editor, select File, choose Page Properties, and then click the Custom tab.
  7. In the User Variable box, select Add. For Name, enter "robots," and for Value, enter "noindex."
  8. Click OK and save the page. After Recalculating Hyperlinks, the page will be excluded from Index Server searches.
Perform the same steps for the Tocproto.htm file to also exclude it from searches.
