The Microsoft Cordless Phone System includes the following parts:

Handset

The handset is the main interface for the Microsoft Phone System, based on the standard design for cordless phones. The handset includes the following features:

  • Speed dial
  • Redial
  • Store and play back messages
  • Change handset frequency
  • Do not disturb
  • Message alert
  • Caller ID
  • Speaker phone

Handset Battery

The handset battery is a nickel-cadmium (NiCad) battery. Install it in the bottom rear panel of the handset.

Charging Cradle with Attached AC Power Adapter

The charging cradle recharges the handset battery for up to eight hours of continuous talk time. When you place the handset in the cradle, the green Charging light turns on. The Charging light stays on when the battery is fully charged. The AC power adapter plugs into your wall outlet to supply power to the charging cradle.

Base Station with Attached Serial Cable

The base station connects the Microsoft Phone System to your telephone service and your computer. If you misplace the handset, you can press the Page button on top of the base station to make the hand set ring so you can locate it. You can also use the base station to set the security codes for the handset, and to select tone or pulse dialing. The telephone jack, the AC power adapter, and the serial cable all connect to the base station.

AC Power Adapter for Base Station

The AC power adapter for the base station plugs into your wall outlet to supply power to the base station.

Telephone Cord

The telephone cord connects the base station to the telephone jack on your wall.

Line Splitter

If you want to connect both the Microsoft Cordless Phone System and the modem in your computer to the same telephone jack on the wall, you can use the line splitter to plug both telephone cords into the same telephone jack.

Serial Plug Adapter

You can use the serial plug adapter to connect the 9-pin serial cable attached to the Base station to a 25-pin serial port on your computer.

Microsoft Cordless Phone System CD-ROM

The Microsoft Cordless Phone System CD-ROM contains the Call Manager software, the Microsoft Cordless Phone System drivers, and the Quick Tour program.

User's Guide

The User's Guide provides an overview of the Microsoft Phone System, safety instructions, and instructions about how to install and use the Microsoft Phone System and Call Manager software and how to troubleshoot problems with the Microsoft Phone System.
