Unexpected result pasting non-contiguous range from Excel into Word (214114)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Excel 2003
- Microsoft Excel 2002
- Microsoft Excel 2000
This article was previously published under Q214114 SYMPTOMS
When you use the Copy and Paste commands to move a non-adjacent range of cells (multiple selected) from a Microsoft Excel document to a Microsoft Word document, the pasted range will include the cells between the non-adjacent regions.
For Example: If you use the Copy command on a region from Microsoft Excel that includes cells A1:A10, C1:C10, and E1:E10, the pasted data will include entire range of A1:E10.
Note This problem also occurs when you move a non-adjacent range of cells from a Microsoft Excel document to a Notepad document or to a WordPad document. WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, copy the non-adjacent range to a table in Word. To do this, follow these steps:
- In Microsoft Excel, select first range of cells. On the Edit
menu, click Copy.
- Switch to Word. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
- Switch to Microsoft Excel, and select the next range of cells.
- Switch to Word. Place the insertion point outside of the table on the first line.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste.
The selected range will be attached to the previously created table.
