WD2000: Cannot Type Text After Inserting "Scrolling Text" (211994)

SYMPTOMS

After you insert scrolling text, you cannot type text, and the insertion point disappears.

To insert scrolling text, follow these steps:
  1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and click Web Tools.
  2. On the Web Tools toolbar, click Scrolling Text.
  3. In the Scrolling Text dialog box, type the text you want to scroll and click OK.

CAUSE

The scrolling text control has the focus after you close the Scrolling Text dialog box.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, click in a different location in your document to take the focus off the scrolling text control.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
