  • Microsoft Word 2000

This article was previously published under Q211905

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Word, when you click to select the Subject check box on the Other Elements tab in the Letter Wizard (on the Tools menu, click Letter Wizard) and create a letter, the Subject check box may not be selected the next time that you open the Letter Wizard.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, do not click Letter Wizard on the Tools menu to start your letter. Instead, start your letter by using the Letter Wizard template. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. On the File menu, click New.
  2. Click the Letter & Faxes tab.
  3. Click the Letter Wizard icon, select Document under Create New, and then click OK.
  4. In step 1 of the Letter Wizard, click the Other Elements tab. Under Include, click to select the Subject check box, and then complete the wizard.
After the letter is created, you can click Letter Wizard on the Tools menu, and Subject is correctly selected on the Other Elements tab.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
