XL2000: Black and White Printer Prints Colored Lines As Grayscale (211661)

SYMPTOMS

When you print a worksheet containing a colored line to a black and white printer, the line may be printed as a gray pattern; in earlier versions of Excel, the line is printed as a black line.

CAUSE

Microsoft Excel 2000 prints colored lines as grayscale lines to distinguish between black lines and colored lines.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, do either of the following:
  • Use black lines.

    -or-
  • Use the Black and white option in the Page Setup dialog box. To do this, click Page Setup on the File menu, and then click the Sheet tab. Click to select the Black and white check box, and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in Microsoft Excel 2000.
