XL2000: Animation Feedback Does Not Work with Floating Toolbars (211658)

SYMPTOMS

When you scroll through a Microsoft Excel 2000 worksheet, the slow-motion or animation effect that slows scrolling does not work, even though the Provide feedback with Animation check box is selected. (Find this check box by clicking Options on the Tools menu and then clicking the Edit tab.)

CAUSE

This problem occurs if either of the following conditions is true:
  • You display a toolbar so that floats over the worksheet (is not docked to one side of the window).

    -or-
  • You display the Office Assistant so that it floats over the worksheet.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, dock any floating toolbars and move the Office Assistant off the worksheet.

To dock a floating toolbar, follow these steps:
  1. Click the title bar on the floating toolbar.
  2. Drag the toolbar to the edge of the program window.
The toolbar becomes docked.

If the Office Assistant is floating over the worksheet, drag it to any location on the screen that is not on the worksheet.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
