WD2000: AutoComplete Suggests Incorrect Date (211504)

SYMPTOMS

When you start typing a date, Microsoft Word 2000 may suggest an incorrect AutoComplete date.

CAUSE

The Windows system date has changed since Word was started.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, save your document, and then quit and restart Word. Word now suggests the correct AutoComplete date.

NOTE: You do not have to restart Windows. Additionally, this problem occurs only if you are using Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, or Windows 95.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

To turn off the AutoComplete feature, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect.
  2. Click the AutoText tab.
  3. Click to clear the Show AutoComplete tip for AutoText and dates check box.
