SYMPTOMS

When you install Windows 2000 on a computer with an Adaptec Duralink 6922a dual-channel 10/100 Ethernet controller, the device may be detected as a DEC 21143 Fast Ethernet.

CAUSE

The Adaptec Duralink 6922a does not support a SubVendor ID. It is detected as a parent device, which is the Intel/DEC 21143 chip. Windows 2000 cannot differentiate between it and other devices with the same Parent ID.

RESOLUTION

Please contact the manufacturer of the device for a possible resolution.
