WD2000: Can't Find Non-Printing Character with Wildcard Search (211274)

When you are in outline view (on the View menu, click Outline), if you select the Use wildcards option, a problem similar to one of the following may occur:
Case 1
If you search for paragraph marks, the following message appears:
You must switch to another view to search for paragraph marks.
Case 2
If you search for page breaks or section breaks, the following message appears:
Word has finished searching the document. The search item was not found.
RESOLUTION
Switch to a different view and search using the Use wildcards option. To do this, follow these steps:
- In the Find and Replace dialog box, click Cancel.
- On the View menu, click to select either Normal or Print Layout.
- On the Edit menu, click either Find or Replace.
- Click either the Find tab or the Replace tab.
- Click the Use wildcards check box.
- With the insertion point in the Find what box, click Special and then click the character you want to search for.
- Click Find Next.
