SYMPTOMS

When you remove one of two or more advanced criteria for a search in the Advanced tab of the Find People tool, and a second or later entry becomes the first entry, this new first entry may still have the word "And" at the beginning of the line. For example, you may want to search for John Smith, and this search may look like this:
Name contains John
And Name contains Smith
If you then delete the first search criteria, "John", the search looks like this, and still has the word "And" at the beginning of the line:
And Name contains Smith

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, you can safely ignore the word "And" at the beginning of the line, and perform your search as usual.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
