This article was previously published under Q210619
This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).

Moderate: Requires basic macro, coding, and interoperability skills.

SYMPTOMS

If you create a shortcut in Microsoft Windows that points to a password-protected Visual Basic Editor project, you may receive the follow incorrect error message when you double-click the shortcut:
Microsoft Access can't find the procedure '.'
Instead, the error should indicate that a Visual Basic Editor password is needed before you can open the module. However, you cannot pass a Visual Basic Editor password through the shortcut.

RESOLUTION

Use Access to open the database. When the database is open, press ALT+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor. You then receive a prompt for the Visual Basic Editor password.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
