SYMPTOMS

When creating an Auto Signature with the Signature Picker, the Font and Paragraph buttons are not available.

CAUSE

The default Message format is set to Plain Text.

RESOLUTION

Change the Message format to Microsoft Outlook Rich Text or HTML.

MORE INFORMATION

The Internet Mail Only version of Outlook has the message format set to Plain Text by default. Since Plain Text does not include character formatting these options are disabled in the Signature Picker tool. To send a message with a formatted signature you need to change the default message format. To change the message format use the following steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Mail Format tab, click to select HTML or Microsoft Outlook Rich Text.
  3. Click Apply and OK to close the window.
If Word is your e-mail editor, see the article in the "References" section for instructions on how to create an Auto Signature.
