IN THIS TASK

SUMMARY

Although Microsoft Access can use a custom paper size, you must first create the custom paper size. In Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, you do this by creating a custom form in the Printers window under Settings on the Start menu.

Creating a Custom Form

To create a custom form for printing to a non-standard paper size in Windows NT 4.0, follow these steps:

NOTE: You cannot create a custom form unless you have first installed a printer driver that supports non-standard paper sizes. For example, many printer drivers for dot matrix printers support custom paper sizes.
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
  2. On the File menu, click Server Properties.
  3. In the Print Server Properties dialog box, click the Forms tab.
  4. Click to select the Create a New Form check box.
  5. Type the name of the custom form in the Form Description box. Under Measurements, specify the form's dimensions and margins.
  6. Click Save Form, and then click OK.

Using the Custom Form in Microsoft Access

To use the custom form with a Microsoft Access report, follow these steps:
  1. Start Microsoft Access and open any database.
  2. In the Database window, click Reports under Objects, select the report, and then click Preview.
  3. On the File menu, click Page Setup, and then click the Page tab.
  4. If the printer that supports custom paper sizes is not the default printer, click Use Specific Printer, and then click Printer. Otherwise, proceed to step 6.
  5. Select the appropriate printer in the list of specific printer names, and then click OK.
  6. In the Size list, under Paper, click the custom form that you created in step 5 of the "Creating a Custom Form" section. Then click OK. The report is now formatted to print on non-standard paper stock that you defined as a custom form.
