Unable to Print Notepad File By Dragging it to Printer Shortcut (207249)

SYMPTOMS

When you drag a Microsoft Notepad file to a printer shortcut on your desktop, you may receive the following error message:
Access to the specified device, path or file is denied.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you try to drag a shortcut to a Notepad file (not an actual Notepad file) to your printer shortcut.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, drag the actual file (not the shortcut to the file) to the printer shortcut.

To work around this issue, right-click the shortcut to a Notepad file you want to print, and then click Print.
