MIDI Sound Played Quickly on Resume from Suspend or Sleep (205794)

SYMPTOMS

If MIDI sounds are being played when your computer is suspended or goes to sleep, a lot of MIDI sounds may be played very quickly as the sequencer catches up when you resume your computer.

CAUSE

Windows (specifically, the MIDI stream emulator) registers a timer callback for when the next MIDI event is due. In the callback, the timeGetTime function is called to determine what time it really is because callbacks can be delayed. In this case, the callback has been delayed, so all the delayed sounds are sent to the port.
