WD2000: Run-time Error 5889 Creating New Publication (204348)

SYMPTOMS

When you use any of the following Word publications,

Brochure
Directory
Manual
Thesis

the following error message appears:
Run-time error '5889': Requested paper size is not available on the currently selected printer.

CAUSE

There is no default printer installed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you must install a printer.

To set up a printer, do the following:

NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Printers, and then double-click Add Printer.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. If you want to print a test page, first make sure your printer is on and ready to print.
NOTE: If you want to use a shared network printer, you can set it up quickly by browsing for it in Network Neighborhood, clicking the printer's icon, and then clicking Install on the File menu.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
