HP OmniBook 600C Laptop Does Not Turn Off (203782)

When you try to shut down Windows 98 or press the power button to turn off your Hewlett Packard OmniBook 600C laptop, your laptop may not turn off. Your laptop may stop responding (hang) when you receive the following message:
It's now safe to turn off your computer.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if your computer is configured to use the Fast Shutdown feature.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, disable the Fast Shutdown feature. To do so, follow these steps:
- Turn off your laptop, and then restart your laptop. If you cannot turn off your laptop using the power button, you may need to remove the battery. For instructions about how to remove the battery, please contact Hewlett-Packard.
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Information.
- On the Tools menu, click System Configuration Utility.
- On the General tab, click Advanced.
- Click the Disable fast shutdown check box, click OK, and then click OK again.
- Click Yes when you are prompted to restart your computer.
