Title Missing After Dragging Favorite to a Different Folder (201500)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 for Macintosh

This article was previously published under Q201500

SYMPTOMS

After you drag an Internet Explorer favorite from the Favorites folder to the Bookmarks folder in Netscape Navigator or to another third-party browser program, the title of the favorite may be missing. Note that the Web address (URL) of the favorite may be transferred correctly.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because versions of Internet Explorer earlier than version 4.5 do not support transferring the title of the favorite when you drag a favorite to a different folder.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, upgrade to Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 for Macintosh. For information about how to do so, please see the following Microsoft Web site:

MORE INFORMATION

The title portion of a URL is called a URL Description (URLD). Versions of Internet Explorer earlier than version 4.5 support dragging a URL but not the URLD. Internet Explorer 4.5 for Macintosh transfers the URL and URLD during drag operations.
