XL: Patterns Do Not Display in a Web Browser (201487)

SYMPTOMS

When you apply a pattern, diagonal border, or rotated text to a cell, the formatting is not displayed when viewed in a Web browser.

CAUSE

This problem is not browser-specific. HTML does not have the ability to display these formatting features.

MORE INFORMATION

This behavior occurs when you do the following:
  • You click Save as Web Page on the File menu. If you then click Save to save an HTML file, or you click Publish twice to publish it as a Web page, you will see the problem when you view the saved or published page in a Web browser.

  • You preview a file as a Web page in Excel by clicking Web Page Preview on the File menu.
