SUMMARY
SQL Server support for the euro symbol depends on both the version of SQL Server and the operating system version you are using.
SQL Server 2000

SQL Server 7.0
SQL Server 7.0 provides the same support for the euro currency symbol as for other special money characters such as the Japanese yen sign, the U.S. dollar sign, or the British pound sign.
SQL Server 6.5
SQL Server 6.5 Service Pack 5 (SP5) provides enhanced sort order definitions that include support for the euro currency symbol. SP5 is required for euro support.
Operating System Support
SQL Server 7.0 running on Microsoft Windows NT Server or Windows NT Workstation 4.0 requires Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4, which includes support for the euro character.
SQL Server 7.0 Desktop Edition runs on either Microsoft Windows 98 or Windows 95. Windows 98 supports the euro currency symbol, and has all the necessary fonts and built-in drivers to use the symbol, provided that your peripherals (such as printers) are designed to work with the euro. Operating system versions later than Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 98 support the euro with no additional modifications.
