PUB98: Error: Changes Lost When Changing Equation Editor Objects (199121)

After you resize and edit an inserted Equation Editor object several times, you may see the following error message:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you press Details, you receive the following information:
MSPUB caused an invalid page fault in module PUBOLE98.DLL
WORKAROUND
Insert the equation editor object within another application and then copy and paste the object into the Publisher publication.
NOTE: When pasting into Publisher, you must use Paste Special under the Edit menu and select to paste the object as a picture. This will insert the object as an image and not as an equation editor object.
If the object needs to be edited, make any necessary changes within the originating application the object was copied from.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
