PPT2000: Object Does Not Act as Hyperlink in Slide View (198341)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
This article was previously published under Q198341 SYMPTOMS
If you apply a hyperlink to text or an object on a PowerPoint slide,
you cannot activate the hyperlink in Slide view by clicking or double-
clicking it.
NOTE: The path or Uniform Resource Locator (URL) appears correctly if
you right-click the object, point to Hyperlink, and then click Edit
Hyperlink.
CAUSE
You can activate a hyperlink in a PowerPoint presentation only by clicking
it when you view the presentation as a Slide Show or when browsing web page
output.
If you click a drawing object in Slide view, you select the object. If you
double-click a drawing object while in Slide view, the Format Object dialog
box is supposed to appear. This behavior does not change simply because the
object has a hyperlink.
RESOLUTION
If you click View Show on the Slide Show menu (or view the web pages in a
browser), the mouse pointer changes to a hand pointer when you move it over
the object or text that has the hyperlink. If you click while you see the
hand, the hyperlink activates.
To verify that a hyperlink works without viewing the presentation as a
Slide Show, follow these steps:
- In Slide view, select the object.
- Right-click the object, point to Hyperlink, and then click Open.
The hyperlink now activates.
