  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q198296

NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.

SYMPTOMS

After changing the mail delivery location to your local store (PST) from the MailBox (MDB), Net Folders no longer update.

CAUSE

The hidden folder used for Net Folders processing does not migrate to the new delivery store when you change the delivery point.

RESOLUTION

You must re-share the folders to resolve this problem.

For more information about how to use Net Folders, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

195867 : OL2000: How to use Net Folders

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

When you create a shared folder with Net Folders, Outlook creates a hidden folder in the default delivery store, whether it is a personal folder (PST) or an Exchange Server mailbox (MDB). Outlook uses this folder to process Net Folder updates. Changing the default delivery point does not migrate the information in the hidden folder to the new hidden folder.
