PUB98: Illegal Operation Error Message Starting Publisher (198029)

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Publisher, the following error message may appear:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you may receive the following message:

Mspub caused an invalid page fault in module QS98.dll.

CAUSE

This error message can appear when the file Biz1logo.jsp is corrupted.

WORKAROUND

Locate the Biz1logo.jsp file and rename it to Biz1logo.old. Restart Publisher. The logo files for Microsoft Publisher are in the following locations:

Windows 95

For Windows 95, the logo files are stored, by default, in the C:\My Documents folder.

Windows NT 4.0

For Windows NT 4.0, the logo files are stored, by default, in the C:\Winnt\Profiles\<username>\Personal directory (where <username> is the username you use when logging on to Windows NT).

After you have renamed or deleted the Biz1logo.jsp file, you can use Microsoft Publisher.
