NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu, click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook, you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.

SUMMARY

Microsoft Outlook may insert "(E-mail)" following the name on the "To" line of a new e-mail message if you select the addressee from the Contact list.

This article describes how to e-mail a Contact without having the unwanted text, "(E-mail)" appear on the To line.

MORE INFORMATION

You cannot directly prevent Outlook from appending "(E-mail)" to a recipent's display name. This functionality is built into Outlook and there are no settings that allow you to change this behavior or the text that is appended. However, you can send an e-mail message to a Contact without the unwantd text on the To line by initiating the e-mail from the Contact folder or an open Contact record.

To Send an E-mail Message from the Contact Folder

  1. On the View menu, point to Go To, and then click Contacts.
  2. Click to select the contact name.
  3. On the Actions menu, click "New Message to Contact."

To Send an E-mail Message from an Open Contact Record

  1. On the View menu, point to Go To, and then click Contacts.
  2. Double-click to open a contact record.
  3. On the Actions menu, click "New Message to Contact."
This places the Contact's resolved name on the To line without the unwanted text.
