PUB98: Background Does Not Print on All Pages of Greeting Card (197865)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Publisher 98

This article was previously published under Q197865

SYMPTOMS

If you print a top-fold card, the background page items only print on the first page. If you print a side-fold card, the background page items only print on the first and last pages.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you print while you are in Two-Page Spread view and if you have only a single background page.

WORKAROUND

Method 1: Print from Single Page view.
  1. On the View menu, click Two-Page Spread to remove the check mark next to it.
  2. Print your publication.
NOTE: This method works well as long as you don't have any objects that extend across facing pages. If you have extra-wide pictures or text frames that extend from page two onto page three, use Method 2.

Method 2: Create dual background pages.
  1. On the Arrange menu, click Layout Guides.
  2. Click the "Create Two Backgrounds With Mirrored Guides" check box to put a mark in it.
  3. Click OK.
  4. On the View menu, click Go to Background (or press Ctrl+M on your keyboard.) You should now have both a left and right background page button in the bottom left of the Publisher window.
  5. If you are in Single Page view, on the View menu click Two-Page Spread. Both background pages should now be visible. They have the same objects on them, but their placement is reversed.
  6. If you want to, drag the items on one or both background pages until they are in the same relative spot.
  7. On the View menu, click Go to Foreground (or press Ctrl+M on your keyboard again.)
