OL2000: Attachment Appears at Bottom of E-mail Message (197746)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q197746

SYMPTOMS

When you insert a file into an e-mail message, Microsoft Outlook may place the file as an attachment in a separate pane at the bottom of the message rather than inline at the insertion point.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design when you use either HTML or Plain Text for your default e-mail format.

RESOLUTION

To place the attachment inline in the message, use Microsoft Outlook Rich Text (RTF) as your default e-mail format.

MORE INFORMATION

To Change Your Default E-mail Format

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Mail Format tab, under Message format, click to select the default format you want in the "Send in this message format" list.
The location of attachments in received e-mail messages depends upon the format of the incoming message.
