BUG: Mmc.exe Application Error Closing Script Generation Dialog Box (197352)

SYMPTOMS

If you close the Generate SQL Scripts dialog box in SQL Enterprise Manager after a large script has been previewed and copied by using the Copy button on the toolbar, you may receive an application error in Mmc.exe.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not use the Copy toolbar button from the Preview window. Alternative methods you can use are:
  • Use the CTRL+C keystroke combination to copy the text to the clipboard.

    -or-
  • Save the text to a file and then use another text editor (such as Notepad) to manipulate it.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 7.0.
