PhD: ErrMsg: Setup Program Cannot Be Started, Error Number 2 (197307)

SYMPTOMS

When you install the retail version of Microsoft PhotoDraw over the Trial version or the Office 2000 Preview, setup prompts you to first uninstall the previous version. If you click OK to have setup remove the previous version, you may receive the following error.
The Microsoft PhotoDraw component setup program
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Setup\PhotoDraw\setup.exe"
cannot be started, error number 2.
If you click OK to dismiss this message and run setup again, you will be prompted again to remove the previous version.

WORKAROUND

To avoid this problem, uninstall the Trial or Preview using the Add/Remove Programs command in the Windows Control Panel before you attempt to install the new version.

To uninstall PhotoDraw using the Control Panel, follow these steps:
  1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Select Microsoft PhotoDraw 2000 in the list and click Add/Remove.
  4. In PhotoDraw setup, click Remove All.
  5. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
  6. When setup is complete, restart Windows before installing the new version of PhotoDraw.
