PRJ98: Work Not Updated as Expected When Accepting TeamStatus (197101)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q197101 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, when you update a project from a TeamStatus
message, you may see either of the following symptoms:
- The work information in the TeamStatus message may differ from the
work information in the project.
- The work information in the resources TeamInbox task list may differ
from the work information in the project.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when the following conditions are true:
- You are using the Web-based workgroup features to communicate
assignments with your resources.
- A resource with assigned tasks has reported work on at least one of
the tasks.
- The resource deletes a value of work in the TeamInbox that has
already been reported.
- The resource sends the updated information (TeamStatus) to the
project manager, who updates the project with that information.
NOTE: An empty (blank) cell is assumed to be 'no change' not zero hours.
WORKAROUND
To correct this problem, in Microsoft Project, edit and correct any
incorrect values of work after updating the project from the TeamStatus
message.
To avoid this behavior, when the resource wants to delete a work value in
the TeamInbox, they should type a zero to delete work instead of deleting
an existing value.
