Each time you send a fax using Symantec Fax Starter Edition in Microsoft
Outlook 2000, you are asked to verify the fax number before proceeding. If
the number is long distance, you must type a "1" before you click Send.
RESOLUTION
If you place calls within the United States, manually type +1 at the
beginning of the fax number in each of your existing Contacts.
To have the +1 automatically added to all future contacts you create,
follow these steps:
- In the Folder List, click the Contacts folder.
- On the Actions menu, point to Call Contact and click New Call.
NOTE: If Call Contact is not visible, hover your pointer over
the chevrons at the bottom of the menu and then click Call Contact when
it appears.
- Click Dialing Options.
- Click to select "Automatically add country code to local phone numbers."
Click OK and Close to close all dialog boxes.
If your phone system requires that you dial a number for an outside line,
click Dialing Properties. Type the access number in "To access an outside
line, first dial X for local, X for long distance," where X represents the
number required for an outside line. Even if you normally dial 1 for your
long distance calls, type the same number. For example, if you normally
dial 9 for an outside line, and 1 for a long distance call, type 9 in both
boxes. Click OK to close Dialing Properties.
When you create a new Contact, or add a new telephone number to a Contact,
Outlook automatically adds the +1 prefix.
The +1 at the beginning of the phone number also prevents the confirmation
message from appearing.
