PRJ: Path or URL Not Changed into Hyperlink Automatically (195358)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project 2000
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q195358 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, when you type a path to a file (such as C:\mydocs\Project1.mpp) or a Web address (a URL such as www.microsoft.com)
into a text field such as Text1 or Notes, the text may not automatically
change into a hyperlink.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when you type the path or Web address without a prefix,
such as file: or http://.
In text fields Text1 - Text30 and the Notes field, Microsoft Project
requires a prefix such as file: or http:// to distinguish the text as a
hyperlink.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, type a prefix such as file: followed by the
path to the file. For example, type file:C:\mydocs\Project1.mpp.
Microsoft Project recognizes and changes the following prefixes into
hyperlinks:
ftp://
file:
gopher://
http://
mailto:
news://
telnet://
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
