FIX: window.open Causes Delay in NewWindow Event (194242)

SYMPTOMS

When you host the WebBrowser control, all navigation can occur in the hosting application. The following Microsoft Knowledge Base article describes this functionality:

However, when the NewWindow event is fired in response to the scripted window.open method that causes navigation to occur in an Internet Explorer window, a 60-second delay occurs before navigation begins. In addition, in Internet Explorer 4.0x, an "Unspecified Error" occurs.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Internet Explorer service pack that contains this hotfix.
