SUMMARY

Information about the projects and items that make up a solution is contained in a solution (.sln) file.

A solution is a group of one or more projects and associated items. Each time you work in the integrated development environment (IDE) you are working with a solution; each instance of the IDE can contain only one solution. The current solution is represented by the top-level node in the Project Explorer window.

NOTE: The specific types of projects, files, or items that a solution can contain may vary depending on the language engine. See language specific documentation for more information.

Information about individual Microsoft Visual InterDev Web projects are contained in a project (.vip) file.

A Web project is stored locally on your machine. The files on your machine make up the local Web application. In Microsoft Visual Studio, Web projects and other project types are accessed from a solution.
