PhD: Send To Mail Recipient Command Is Unavailable (193800)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PhotoDraw 2000

This article was previously published under Q193800

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft PhotoDraw, when you click the File menu and try to select Send To Mail Recipient it may be unavailable.

Send To Mail Recipient is designed to launch your email tool, open a new email message and place the active picture in the message as an attachment so you can send it to whomever you desire.

CAUSE

Send To Mail Recipient is only available when both these conditions are true:
  • You have a MAPI-aware email program such as Microsoft Exchange, or Microsoft Outlook on your computer.
  • You have a file open in PhotoDraw.

RESOLUTION

Some well-known mail programs such as America Online are not MAPI-aware. MAPI stands for Messaging Application Interface; it is the part of Windows that controls how email programs talk to other programs. However you can still send your PhotoDraw picture via email by attaching the file to your email message in AOL using AOL commands.

Creating your own email message and then attaching the picture also works for many other email programs that are not MAPI-aware. The only limitation is that the email program must support file attachments.

Consult the online Help for the email program you use for instructions on how to attach files to email messages.
