SYMPTOMS

Using Network Monitor to analyze a network interface on a multiprocessor computer running Windows NT under heavy stress can result in the following STOP error message being displayed:

STOP 0x0000000A (0xf8e09000, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xfe2d0397)
The exact address where the STOP error occurs may vary, the fourth parameter will be in the range of Bhnt.sys.

CAUSE

Under certain stress circumstances in a multiprocessor environment, Network Monitors' NDIS-related packet receive handler will leave a data buffer vulnerable to multiple processes. This results in damaged buffer metrics and a buffer overrun.
