DSS80: Cannot Adjust Volume Using Deluxe CD Player (191978)

When you install the Microsoft Digital Sound System 80 hardware in your
computer, the volume control knob may no longer adjust the volume level
properly when you use the Deluxe CD Player utility included in Microsoft
Plus! 98.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions exist:
- The computer is configured to use your sound card as the preferred
playback device.
- Deluxe CD Player is configured to use the Digital Sound System 80 as
the audio mixer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, configure Deluxe CD Player to use your sound card
as the audio mixer. To do this, follow these steps:
- Start Deluxe CD Player.
- Click Options, and then click Preferences.
- Click Advanced Audio.
- In the Select Audio Mixer box, click your sound card.
- Click OK, and then click OK again.
