CAUSE

This behavior can occur if digital CD audio is enabled on the computer.

To resolve this issue, disable digital CD audio for the CD-ROM drive. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Connect the Digital Sound System 80 hardware to your sound card.

NOTE: The Digital Sound System 80 hardware can be connected to both the USB port and your sound card at the same time.
  2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Multimedia.
  4. Click the CD Music tab.
  5. Click to clear the "Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device" check box, and then click OK.
  6. Close Control Panel.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem occurs when the hard disk and CD-ROM drive use the same IDE channel and compete for processor resources.
