LOGITECH MOUSE
The Windows 98 Logitech driver supports Logitech MouseWare
version 7.2 and later. All the features of MouseWare, including the
programability of the mouse buttons, work well with the new Windows 98 driver.
If your version of MouseWare is earlier than 7.2, use the Windows 98
Device Manager to change the mouse type.
>>> To change the
mouse type:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
- Click the plus (+) sign next to Mouse.
- Double-click the mouse you want to update the driver for.
- Click Driver, and then click Update Driver.
- When the wizard starts, follow the instructions on your screen.
If you use a Logitech serial mouse but have a PS/2 mouse port
on your computer, Windows 98 may not install the Logitech driver. If so, use
the Device Manager tab in the Systems Properties dialog box to change the PS/2
mouse setting to Logitech Serial Mouse.
MOUSE SYSTEMS OR GENIUS
Windows 98 does not have built-in drivers for the Mouse Systems
or Genius three-button mouse. The standard mouse driver will work with these
devices in their two-button mode. Driver updates are available in the
Drivers\Mouse folder on the Windows 98 CD.
MICROSOFT NATURAL KEYBOARDS
Windows 98 has built-in support for the Microsoft Natural
Keyboard. Windows logo keys have added functionality under the new operating
system.
You will be unable to install IntelliType version 1.00 under
Windows 98. If you upgrade to Windows 98 over a previously installed Windows
3.1 or Windows 95 configuration, IntelliType will have limited functionality.
If you are upgrading a Windows 3.x or Windows 95 configuration that
has IntelliType version 1.00 software, it is recommended that you delete the
following line from your System.ini file, which is located in the folder that
contains your Windows 98 files:
taskman.exe=TASKSW16.EXE
This deletion deactivates the Windows 3.1 IntelliType
Task Manager and ensure full support of the Windows logo keys under Windows 98.
MICROSOFT INTELLIPOINT 1.00
Windows 98 has built-in support for the Microsoft mouse.
You cannot install IntelliPoint version 1.00 under Windows 98. If
you upgrade to Windows 98 over a previously installed Windows 3.1 or Windows 95
configuration, IntelliPoint will have limited functionality. Contact Microsoft
for an updated version of IntelliPoint software.
MICROSOFT BALLPOINT MOUSE
If you need to adjust settings, such as orientation, for your
BallPoint mouse, use the Mouse Manager or IntelliPoint in Control Panel that
came with your mouse. If the IntelliPoint icon is not already installed on your
computer, contact Microsoft for an updated version of the mouse software.
