This article was previously published under Q190954

SYMPTOMS

After you install Windows 98 by using an Msbatch.inf file, your computer may not have network connectivity.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if both of the following conditions exist:
  • The Msbatch.inf file specifies static Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) addressing
  • The Msbatch.inf file is configured to install Dial-Up Networking

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, click OK during Setup when you receive a message that says you do not have network connectivity, click the Configuration tab, click Dial-Up Adapter, click Remove, and then click OK.

To prevent this from occurring the next time you use the Msbatch.inf file, edit the Msbatch.inf file to not install Dial-Up Networking.
