BUG: Default Beep When Editing Read-Only Files (190746)

When you make changes to a read-only file that is not under source
control, a default beep sound is made by the system.
CAUSE
This behavior is an intentional warning that the user is editing a read-
only file without first getting a working copy.
RESOLUTION
To prevent the sound, get a working copy of the file before attempting to
edit it.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed
at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post
new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes
available.
