XL98: Inserting Rows or Columns Slower with Page Breaks Visible (189896)

When you insert rows or columns in your worksheet, the speed at which the
rows or columns are inserted may decrease after you do any of the
following: - You view your document in Print Preview.
-or-
- You display the Page Setup dialog box.
-or-
- You print your document.
CAUSE
The speed at which rows or columns are inserted may decrease if you have
the Page Breaks check box enabled on the View tab of the Preferences dialog
box.
NOTE: The decrease in speed is much more pronounced on computers with
relatively slow processors.
RESOLUTION
To prevent a decrease in the speed at which rows or columns are inserted,
disable the Page breaks option. To do this, follow these steps: - On the Tools menu, click Preferences.
- Click the View tab.
- Clear the Page Breaks check box.
- Click OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 98
Macintosh Edition.
