PPT97: 24-Bit Rendering Options Have No Effect (189823)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows

This article was previously published under Q189823

SYMPTOMS

If you change the Render 24-bit bitmaps at highest quality setting (on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Advanced tab), choosing either Best for printing or Best for on-screen viewing results in no change in the color depth of the images generated. All images rendered in this manner use 24-bit color, including any Windows Metafiles (WMF). You cannot use this feature to create 8-bit WMF files.

In addition, the ScreenTip for these settings indicates that they alter the quality of the output image, when in fact they are non-operational.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint 97.
