The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Publisher 98

This article was previously published under Q189676

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to connect two or more text frames in Microsoft Publisher, the Connect Frames toolbar, which provides options for linking the frames, does not appear.

CAUSE

You previously closed the Connect Frames toolbar.

RESOLUTION

To show the Connect Frames toolbar, follow these steps:
  1. Select an existing text frame. Or, create a new text frame using the Frame tool on the Objects toolbar and then select it.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Text Frame Connecting.

NOTE: If the Text Frame Connection command on the Tools menu is unavailable (dimmed) you do not have a text frame selected. Select a text frame and the repeat step 2.
In certain cases, the Connect Frames toolbar may not appear after performing these steps. In this case, you can restore the toolbar by resetting the toolbar settings in Microsoft Publisher. For more information about how to do this, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

MORE INFORMATION

The Connect Frames toolbar is a floating toolbar. This means you can dock (position) it anywhere in the Publisher window.

For more information about connecting text frames, click the Office Assistant, type "How do I connect text frames," click Search, and then click to view "What are connected text frames."

NOTE: If the Assistant is hidden, click the Microsoft Publisher Help button on the Standard toolbar. If Microsoft Publisher Help is not installed on your computer, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
