The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft IntelliPoint software 2.2

This article was previously published under Q189536

SYMPTOMS

When you use the IntelliMouse wheel to scroll in Microsoft Publisher 97, the keyboard may quit functioning properly.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because Publisher 97 is not compatible with the Universal Scrolling feature in version 2.2 of the IntelliPoint software.

RESOLUTION

To restore your ability to use the keyboard, use the mouse to minimize Publisher 97, and then maximize Publisher 97.

To prevent the issue from recurring, add Publisher 97 to the Exception List for the Universal Scrolling feature. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mouse.
  3. On the Wheel tab, under Universal Scrolling, click Exceptions.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Browse to the location of the Publisher 97 program file (Mspub.exe), click the Mspub.exe file, and then click Open. By default, the Mspub.exe file is located in the following folder
          <drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Publisher.

Where <drive> is the letter of the hard disk on which Publisher 97 is installed.
  6. Click Close, and then click OK.

MORE INFORMATION

This issue does not occur with Microsoft Publisher 98.
