PPT98: Incorrect Character Spacing w/Adobe PostScript Type 1 Fonts (189359)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q189359 SYMPTOMS
If you are using Adobe Type Manager version 4.x with Microsoft PowerPoint
98 Macintosh Edition, the spacing between characters formatted in an Adobe
Type 1 font may appear incorrect. The same text in the same font may appear
correctly in Microsoft PowerPoint for the Macintosh, version 4.0.
CAUSE
PowerPoint 98 uses different code to display text than PowerPoint 4.0. While the
new code is faster than the old code, it does not always handle text the same
way.
RESOLUTION
This problem does not occur if you use TrueType fonts.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at
the beginning of this article.
