If your AST Advantage 828 computer contains a CD-ROM changer, it may not
work properly after you upgrade to Windows 98. A single CD-ROM drive may
be displayed in Device Manager, and the CD-ROM changer may be displayed as
Unknown Hardware under the Other Devices branch.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if SmartCD Manager is installed. The Scdmgrt3.vxd
file located in the Windows\System\Iosubsys folder prevents Windows 98
from detecting the CD-ROM changer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, move the Scdmgrt3.vxd file into a different
folder. For information about how to do so, click Start, click Help, click
the Index tab, type moving, and then double-
click the "Moving Files, Folders" topic.
